About JCEDO

The Jasper County Economic Development Organization, Inc. (JCEDO) is the county-wide economic development entity for Jasper County, Indiana.  A public-private partnership incorporated in 1986 as a 501(c)(3) corporation, JCEDO aggressively works to promote and stimulate agricultural, business, civic, commercial, financial, industrial, recreational, residential, tourism, and trade interests.  Program initiatives are targeted to achieve maximum employment and wealth creation through attraction of new businesses and residents, expansion of existing businesses, public policy advocacy, strategic planning and investment, and by marketing Jasper County’s attributes.

Attracting New Businesses

JCEDO is committed to maintaining and enhancing a countywide business climate that helps stimulate the attraction and start-up of new businesses.  Through our network of stakeholders and economic development partners, regionally as well as nationally, we supply technical expertise and access to financing and incentive programs such as tax increment financing and tax abatement that are designed to assist businesses grow and prosper in Jasper County.  JCEDO’s economic development partners include the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, the Northwest Indiana Forum, the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development.

Helping Existing Businesses 

Fundamentally important to Jasper County’s economic health is the viability, profitability and growth potential of existing businesses.  The principal component of JCEDO’s Business Retention and Expansion Program is outreach to local businesses through personal visits, telephone contacts, electronic communication and networking.  Through these efforts, JCEDO establishes and strengthens relationships with businesses throughout the county in order to help identify and maximize growth opportunities while also positioning the organization to proactively address challenges.

Impacting Public Policy

JCEDO is active in the government and legislative affairs arena.  A top priority is to maintain excellent relationships with the leaders of Jasper County and its municipalities in order to be knowledgeable regarding local issues and to advocate for or against specific policies.  In addition, JCEDO regularly provides its government partners with research support and policy guidance.  At the state and national levels, JCEDO is building relationships with elected officials and their staffs via personal meetings as well as through testimony at legislative hearings.  JCEDO is also involved with legislative initiatives led by the Indiana Economic Development Association, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, and the Indiana Farm Bureau.

The importance of building familiarity with the Jasper County brand in the economic development marketplace cannot be overemphasized.  JCEDO focuses on being visible in numerous organizations, regularly participates in a variety of networking activities, and also relies extensively on electornic marketing channels.  In addition to promoting Jasper County throughout the state and region, JCEDO also understands the value of promoting Jasper County within its borders.

Strategic Investments

Critical to Jasper County’s ability to support future growth is visionary planning coupled with capital investment in major infrastructure projects designed to sustain and enhance the County’s attractiveness as a business and residential location.  JCEDO is actively involved in a series of strategic initiatives across Jasper County to ensure its continued and increased viability as an outstanding place to live and work.
