Remington

Remington Water Tower.jpgA small town oasis located at the southern border of Jasper County, the town of Remington is the halfway point between Indianapolis and Chicago and only a 30 minute drive from Lafayette, Indiana.  Founded in the spring of 1860 as Carpenter Station or Carpenter, today this farming community exudes the idyllic charm of a small rural community while being accessible to the amenities of a larger metropolitan area.

Remington Town Sign.jpgRemington possesses a variety of well maintained housing options and architectural styles as well as several historic landmarks.  The local school system has the reputation for striving to be the best with small class sizes, modern facilities and dedicated teachers.  Two beautiful parks offer outstanding venues for children, family activities, picnicking, organized sporting events and hiking.

Many agricultural processing and manufacturing firms also call Remington home including a new 566,000 square foot, 350 employee Advance Auto Parts distribution center.  Located where I-65 intersects U.S. Highway 24, Remington is truly the crossroads of northwest Indiana.  In addition, Remington boasts many commercial and service businesses and also has several local clubs and community organizations.

Planning Ahead

The Town of Remington is aggressively pursuing recommendations developed as part of its recently adopted Downtown Improvement Plan.  Efforts are underway to identify opportunities for strengthening Remington’s commercial core while also enhancing the town’s beauty and livability.  In addition, capacity expansion of Remington’s municipal water and wastewater systems are also helping prepare the community for future growth as does the recent opening of a new fire station.
