NIPSCO 2026 Public Safety Grant Application

Grant applications due July 31, 2026 

Grant recipients will be announced the week of August 24, 2026  

Introduced in 2018, NIPSCO’s Public Safety Education and Training Action Grant has provided funds for 107 community/youth safety education programs and various trainings for first responders.

Grants available for $500 to $5,000 for organizations seeking funds for public safety education and first responder training programs and have a direct impact on NIPSCO service area.

Areas could include, but are not limited to:

  • Preferred programs would promote public safety education and training. Areas could include, but not limited to, areas of damage prevention, police and fire departments, carbon monoxide safety, and youth related safety education.
  • Grant funding is not intended for purchase of equipment other than needed to support public safety education programs and training
  • Safety education programs where employee volunteerism is available is a plus

Applications should include: 

  1. Project description and goals
  2. Budget
  3. Target audience
  4. Timeline and evaluation method
  5. W9

Grants will be evaluated on:

  1. Quality
  2. Strategic Potential
  3. Community Impact
  4. Public benefit and Management

Facade Grant Program

Jasper County Economic Development (JCEDO), in collaboration with the City of Rensselaer Building Department, have worked together to create a Facade Grant Program, an identified need listed in the 2023 City of Rensselaer Comprehensive Plan. As of March 2026, the grant is being administered by the City of Rensselaer. Interested businesses should contact the Rensselaer Building Department for an application and additional information.
