JCEDO welcomes new Media and Communications Coordinator

Jasper County Economic Development Organization (JCEDO) has hired DeMotte local Tori Krzyston for the position of Media and Communications Coordinator.  

“We are so excited to have Tori join our team,” said Sara DeYoung, Executive Director of JCEDO. DeYoung said the new position would be compliment to JCEDO’s efforts to market the county through tourism, quality of life and economic development. 

“In 2024 the Tourism Commission created a strategic plan and prioritized focused marketing and community engagement. Tori joining our team will allow the organization to implement those strategies along with the opening of the Welcome Center at 104 W Washington Street this Spring.” 

The Jasper County Tourism Commission is a county entity that promotes development, tourism, and visitor attractions through revenue generated by the Innkeeper’s Tax. JCEDO works with the tourism commission to accomplish these goals. The grand opening of the Jasper County Welcome Center is on Thursday, May 21, at 4 pm.  

The Welcome Center will serve as a central hub for tourism expansion and community development within Jasper County. Visitors will have access to local resources detailing the county’s history, attractions, and businesses, many of which will be featured in the center’s retail market. It will also feature the new Mural Passport, a guide to Jasper County’s vast mural trail, with information on each mural, its artist, and nearby community attractions.  

“Sharing stories that bring people and communities together is what I’m passionate about, and Jasper County has so much worth sharing,” said Krzyston. “I’m excited to be joining JCEDO at such a pivotal time with the opening of the Welcome Center. I’m really looking forward to continuing the team’s work in supporting the businesses and residents who make our communities thrive.”

Krzyston studied Journalism and Public Relations at Indiana University. She worked in communications at the media company Local 219, where she collaborated with organizations such as The Times of Northwest Indiana, the Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest, and the Big Shoulders Fund. Beyond her professional life, she enjoys running her photography business and spending time with her fiancé, Jamison, and their dogs, Gus and Phoebe.
