Fritts Berry Farm Demotte, Indiana

Fritts Blueberry Farm was established in 1949.  Dan and Darcy Fritts are the owners of the blueberry farm. Dan’s grandparents planted the blueberry bushes along with vegetables. He thought to plant the blueberry bushes because he notices there were wild blueberries already growing on the 80-acre property. Dan and Darcy took over the blueberry operation in 2013. They currently have 6 different varieties of blueberries: Blueray, bluecrop, berkeley, earliblue, jersey, and elliot. Dan and Darcy have been married for 27 years. They have three boys that also love the blueberry farm! Dan is a painting contractor when he is not working on the farm.

Why Blueberries?

Dan was born and raised on the blueberry farm. He loves the tradition of families and friends coming back every year to pick blueberries together. They have met so many people because of their farm. People come from all over to pick blueberries. Each year they have about 2,000 cars come to the farm. Darcy and Dan love to serve the people that come to visit them. They enjoy seeing everyone’s smiling faces! And they absolutely love blueberries!

About the Farm

The well-drained soil and the organic matter make their farm the perfect location for growing blueberries! Everything is handpicked by employees or by customers. At the end of the season Dan will go through with a harvester and then they send the blueberries to market. Everything that employees pick is sent through the sorter and then employees will sort through the blueberries. Fritts Berry Farm strive to give customers the best blueberries possible! Blueberry season on the farm begins around July 4th and                                                                                        lasts about 21-25 days.

Coming 2023

Be on the lookout for a new festival coming to Fritts Berry Farm in summer of 2023. They are planning a Blueberry Jam. The festival fundraising will go towards autism research. There will be live music, food, kids’ activities and more!
